Why does pee smell?
Our bodies are so magnificent!! So many of our organs help us in ways you wouldn’t think they would.
Our kidneys do filter blood and many other tasks!
I think all of us every once in awhile, wonder what in the world is that smell in our urine!
There are could be a few things that may be causing this!
Sometimes onions, brussel sprouts, coffee, garlic may be the cause!
When you are dehydrated (not drinking enough fluid for your body’s needs) urine can become darker in color, but may also have a stronger smell than normal.
Some medications can make urine smell. It could be due to the medication itself or the additives added to make it. Example: vitamins, supplements
Possible Urinary tract infection:
Some uti’s or other infections will not have you experience the tell tale signs of itching, burning or spasming urination. But the urine may have a different smell. If you suspect you may have an uti, please contact your physician or practitioner.
Possible elevated blood sugar:
When your blood sugar is high, your body will try and help eliminate the excess sugar in the urine. You may feel like you have to pee alot and your urine may smell a little sweet/fruity. If you have sweet smelling urine, it may be due to eating an excess of sugar or possibly another health condition. If your urine smells sweet, please contact your physician.
Pregnancy: pregnancy may change the smell of your urine.
If your urine changes odor, color that does not improve with increasing your water intake, consult your physician or practitioner!
